Leadership Role, Software Performance Engineer

Description: The WSI Development team is currently searching for a professional Software Performance Engineer. The ideal candidate possesses a deep understanding of performance engineering; eats, sleeps and breathes all things performance.   The engineer in this position will be our performance team and will require a wide breath of performance knowledge spanning Windows, Postgres and SQL Databases, Network and Systems knowledge. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of video streaming products; must have solid systems level knowledge and performance optimization is critical. 
In this position you will develop test scenarios to identify performance and scalability bottlenecks in the development cycle. As the application performance expert, you will set performance and scalability goals at unit and system levels. This is a Leadership role that will resolve blocking issues and make recommendations based on actual measurements, profiling and anticipated impact on end users.   

Responsibilities:

• Gain detailed knowledge of the software and system architecture to look for performance bottlenecks and optimizations
• Design, code, and execute scripts to generate performance test data.
• Design and Implement Performance and Load Tests using a Test Harness
• Develop and document performance use cases for features and product workflows
• Tuning the system at the OS, Database (Postgres), Network and System Level
• Become knowledgeable and proficient in the use of WSI products

Qualifications:

• BS degree or equivalent work experience in Computer Science
• Demonstrated knowledge in  C++  (C# and ASP.NET is a plus)
• Experience with 3rd party and custom tools related to Performance and Load Testing
• 3 years (plus) experience in generating performance use cases and tests

• A systematic approach to problem solving and strong analytical skills
• Strong interpersonal, writing, and communication skills and must be able to present difficult concepts clearly and concisely to both a technical and non-technical audience
• Self-motivated and eager to learn new concepts and products quickly
• Ability to see the big picture while working in the details

Additional Skills/Competencies Desired:

• Knowledge in software development methodologies
• Experience testing on a variety of operating systems, including:  Microsoft based products (XP)
• Knowledge in D3D is a plus
