Field Sales Representative – Energy & Risk

Description: 

This experienced Field Sales Representative will be responsible for establishing and cultivating relationships with traders, meteorologists, trading analysts, energy professionals and key individuals in banks, trading firms, hedge funds, and power companies. You will be expected to meet and exceed business goals within an assigned territory (major hubs being Houston, Chicago & New York), selling WSI Energy based products to the Energy Trading, and Utility market segments. Responsibilities include making customer calls, providing product demonstrations, representing WSI products at industry trade shows, participating in seminars, and visiting all top customers within the assigned territory each year.

Responsibilities:

  • Identify prospects in your territory; qualify, visit, demo, close prospects.  Maintain and grow revenues from existing customer base.  Must be able to negotiate contracts for web deployed services with a strong consultative approach.
  • Work with marketing to implement sales marketing programs to assist you in selling WSI products. Looking for a creative person to help find new avenues to expand market share.
  • Ability to learn technical products and explain complex products in clear, simplified terms to prospective clients
  • Respond and provide proper follow-up to all incoming inquiries from the WSI corporate site, and other marketing programs.
  • Attend trade conferences, and WSI sponsored symposiums to gather new opportunities, and increase contact with existing client base.
  • Work as a team player with marketing, weather forecasting and all WSI departments. Being able to work with all members of the WSI team to ensure that each customer becomes a customer for life. 
  • Provide management with feedback regarding competition, marketplace, and other information of possible value to sales, engineering and marketing staff in planning and implementing sales strategies.
  • Responsible for meeting and exceeding sales quota.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required, focus in Meteorology or related science strongly desired
  • 3+ years sales experience

Skills/Competencies Required:

  • Knowledge of / experience with weather, Energy trading and/or client relationships with banks, trading houses and hedge funds is a must. 
  • Candidate must be self-motivated, with track record of sales success. 
  • Familiarity with sales automation systems, such as Saleslogix.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; able to present to large audiences as well as build rapport at the individual level.
