WSI
has automatically upgraded all WSI Pilotbrief® pre-flight systems, free
of charge, to include graphical representations of Temporary Flight Restrictions
(TFRs) and FDC NOTAMS. By automatically adding this critical information
to WSI Pilotbrief, WSI ensures that pilots can make more informed flight
planning and route decisions based on the latest changes in airspace. "With
the recent proliferation of Temporary Flight Restrictions and heavy penalties
for incursions into these areas, it was important to add up-to-the-minute
TFR information to WSI Pilotbrief, the nation's leading aviation weather
briefing system", said Arlo Gambell, Director of Aviation Services.
To access the most current TFR and FDC NOTAM information,
simply click on the TFR icon located on the homepage of the WSI Pilotbrief
system. The WSI TFR interface is automatically updated every 20 minutes
and displays geo-referenced restricted areas as active icons. A quick glance
is all it takes for a pilot to determine whether or not they will encounter
restricted airspace along their flight path. The full textual descriptions
of each TFR are easily accessible by clicking on the active icons. This
information, along with WSI's new FDC NOTAM data, enables pilots to easily
obtain the information needed for a thorough pre-flight briefing.
Additionally,
WSI also made available a five-minute quality controlled WSI NOWrad®
product for its WSI Pilotbrief Premium Radar customers. A high quality mosaic
of the national NEXRAD ground based Doppler radar system, WSI NOWrad is
reviewed by degreed meteorologists every update cycle to remove any anomalous
propagation or ground clutter. Previously, only a fifteen-minute version
of the product, pioneered by WSI, was commercially available with this level
of expert review.
