WSI announced that the State of Michigan
Department of Transportation has selected the WSI Pilotbrief® aviation
weather briefing system to provide pilots flying in Michigan with thorough
pre-flight briefings. WSI will immediately field forty-four systems for
Airports, Fixed Based Operations, and State Offices throughout Michigan.
The Department of Transportation is providing the WSI Pilotbrief systems
as a service to Michigan pilots, ensuring easy access to critical aviation
weather information.
"Key
to our decision to select WSI was 'Ease of Use' and the user-friendly characteristics
of the WSI Pilotbrief system, " said Steve Schultz, MDOT Aviation Services
Manager, Electronic Facilities. "The Department's goal was to partner
with a weather services provider that could deliver fully graphic weather
depictions in a format that would be familiar to local as well as transient
pilots. We conducted an extensive survey, continued Schultz and Airport
Managers and pilots identified the WSI system as being easy to operate and
in widespread use nationally." "We are extremely pleased to assist the State
of Michigan in their missiong to better inform pilots," said Arlo Gambell,
Director of Aviation Services. WSI Pilotbrief provides the most comprehensive
set of aviation weather data in a user friendly format that enables aviators
to stay abreast of changes in the weather."
