Traffic at WSI's Booth

Great turn out for Arlo Gambell's presentation

WSI's 3-Day Forecast Appeared Daily in AirVenture's Newspaper

First things first - WSI categorically denies it had any control over the weather during Airventure 2003. We know it looked suspicious when a downpour started and stopped with WSI Director of Aviation Services, Arlo Gambell’s presentation on thunderstorm avoidance. The daily afternoon 'cool-offs' that drove visitors into the exhibit halls (and our booth) raised some eyebrows as well. Bad weather is good business for an aviation weather company exhibiting it’s services, but really - we had nothing to do with it.

Luckily, the storms in Wisconsin were not enough to keep conventioneers away and EAA reports that they had the biggest show ever - over 770,000 visitors for the week! WSI was there online, on the ground and in the air. The traffic to the WSI booth was steady all week with serious inquires on our WSI InFlight service. Not only was WSI showing the 'latest and greatest' but was also helping people make their plans to fly to and from Oshkosh a success.

WSI Debuts Free Fly-In Weather Site
Airventure 2003 was the debut of WSI’s free fly-in weather website geared to the weather in the Wisconsin region. The site www.wsi.com/fly/wxeaa was active from mid-June through August 8th and featured surface prognostics, satellite imagery and WSI’s industry leading NOWrad® radar summary. Over sixty thousand page views were recorded for this unique planning tool during the course of the show. WSI's next fly-in weather web site will be focused on AOPA next month in Philadelphia. WSI Had a Strong Presence at Oshkosh
WSI was all over the show grounds this year at Oshkosh. Besides our booth in Hangar C, WSI fed live weather data to UPS-AT, L3 Communications, Lancair, NASA and the FAA. Also, WSI provided eight WSI Pilotbrief terminals for the FAA’s Temporary Flight Service Station. Convention goers were able to plan their day weather wise with the WSI 3 day forecast published daily in the AirVenture Today newspaper. WSI was also proud to support our WSI InFlight Authorized Dealers and display partners that were exhibiting at the show with collateral and signage - sixteen booths in all. Lest we forget, WSI conducted a well attended (yes the storm helped) seminar on Thunderstorm Avoidance. Leave it to Arlo to pull out all of the stops to conduct a great discussion on the weather.

Excellent Feedback from WSI Customers at the Show
Perhaps the most rewarding thing for the WSI team was to hear the stories of WSI InFlight customers that used the WSI InFlight system to successfully negotiate the weather on the way to Oshkosh. It was a pleasure meeting all of our customers - we even were able to give some ‘kit builders’ suggestions on system integration and antenna placement. Everyone that came to the booth was abuzz with the news that WSI certified the WSI InFlight system just before the show. Finally, it was a treat to watch the Aeroshell Aerobatic Team perform each day with the knowledge that WSI InFlight helped them on their tour this year. WSI sponsors the team and is outfitting each of the beautiful T-6s with a WSI InFlight system.

WSI had a wonderful show at Oshkosh this year and it was great to meet each of our customers and prospects that made the pilgrimage to Wisconsin. We look forward to another great time next year sharing with you the hundred and first year of powered flight!
