Customer Care has received a number of calls from clients concerning problems after rebooting their WeatherProducer installed on a Dell system. These kinds of problems are generally caused when the system has been rebooted while a process was still active or not properly shutdown. Systems should not be rebooted unless instructed by WSI Support.
To avoid accidental shutdowns WSI strongly recommends the use of an Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS - minimum 500W per attached workstation) and surge protector to guard against damage to the system.

One of the more frequently asked application questions concerns how to transfer graphics into and out of the WeatherProducer system.

Each Linux workstation (Dell) has the capacity to handle three types of media transfer.
CDROM or DVD
File transfer protocol (ftp)
3.5" floppy
The directory structure of the WeatherProducer system works in such a way that, so long as
graphics are imported properly, any file should be accessible from any of the workstations. Similarly, if a file is exported from any application, any workstation should be able to export it.
For information concerning how to import and export graphics refer to the web site http://www.wsi.com/docs/customer/
