-- Aimed at helping Natural Gas Traders better predict the effect the prior weeks weather will have on the upcoming EIA Storage Report --
Andover, MA, February 15, 2005 — WSI
Corporation today launched a FREE newsletter for Natural Gas
and Power Traders. Unlike WSI’s subscription based services,
this report centers on weather that has already happened, not
what is predicted to happen.
WSI uses observations from the prior “gas week” to
calculate proprietary Population Weighted Degree Days for
each of the three Natural Gas regions (Consuming East, Consuming
West, and Producing). Gas and Electric population weighting
is done using data from the 200 Census). WSI posts this data
on the FREE Newsletter, and provides comparison against 30-year
normal population weighted weather data.
The report is issued every Monday morning at approximately
8:00 am; giving Traders more than a three days jump on the
EIA report. The EIA report, which approximates Natural Gas
withdrawals in each of the gas regions (or injections during
summer months), is of great interest to traders, and often
moves Natural Gas prices following its release. Since weather
has such a strong impact on Natural Gas demand, knowing how
much colder or warmer the weather was versus normal gives
traders a foundation to begin a prediction for the EIA report.
Since WSI weighs the data against population and gas usage,
Traders will receive a more accurate representation of weathers
impact.
The Newsletter is FREE of charge. To sign up, simply click
