WSI Corporation Improves Pilots' Ability to Avoid Restricted Airspace With Graphic TFRs and FDC NOTAMs

-- Leader in aviation weather upgrades entire WSI Pilotbrief customer base free of charge --

Billerica, MA. - March 10, 2003
WSI Corporation today announced it is automatically upgrading all WSI Pilotbrief® pre-flight briefing systems to include graphic representations of Temporary Flight Restrictions (TFRs) and FDC NOTAM data. TFRs, issued through the Federal Aviation Administration, restrict access to nationally sensitive areas such as the President's location and can change frequently. The upgrade of customers' systems, which began today, will be completed by the end of March. By automatically adding this critical information to WSI Pilotbrief, WSI ensures that pilots can make more informed flight planning and route decisions.

"With the recent proliferation of Temporary Flight Restrictions and heavy penalties for incursions into these areas, it was important to add up-to-the-minute TFR information to WSI Pilotbrief, the nation's leading aviation weather briefing system,' said Arlo Gambell, Director of Aviation Services. The new WSI TFR interface is updated every twenty minutes and displays geo-referenced restricted areas as active icons. Pilots have 'point and click' access to full textual descriptions for every TFR in the continental US, Alaska and Hawaii. This information, along with WSI's new FDC NOTAM data, allows pilots to quickly and easily obtain the information needed for a thorough pre-flight briefing. "The National Airspace System is becoming increasingly complex and dynamic," said Gambell. "WSI will continue to develop new tools for aircrews to successfully stay abreast of changes in airspace as well as the weather."

Additionally, WSI announced availability of a five-minute quality controlled WSI NOWrad® product for its WSI Pilotbrief Premium Radar customers. A high quality mosaic of the national NEXRAD ground based Doppler radar system, WSI NOWrad is reviewed by a degreed meteorologist every update cycle. Previously, only a fifteen-minute version of the product, pioneered by WSI, was commercially available with this level of expert review.
