Cutting-Edge Traffic System Utilizing WSI's TrueView Traffic
Live Drive Technology
Andover, Mass. - April 15, 2005
- KNBC has launched "Live Drive 4D Traffic" on "Today
in LA," airing Monday through Sunday from 5AM - 7AM
(7-8AM Sat/Sun). "Live Drive 4D Traffic" is a
cutting-edge traffic system, utilizing the innovative TrueView
Traffic Live Drive technology developed by the WSI Corporation.
The only live un-rendered traffic solution with a three-dimensional
graphic package, the system utilizes cameras, road sensors
and commuter call-in data to create the most timely, accurate
and useful picture of changing traffic conditions in Southern
California.
"Traffic conditions are a major concern to our viewers,” said
Robert Long, KNBC Vice President and News Director. “The
`Live Drive 4D` system allows us to give an up-to-the-minute
view of traffic conditions throughout Southern California.
The breakthrough technology helps us identify trouble spots
and quickly provide alternate route maps, as well."
"Live Drive 4D Traffic" taps into sensors on freeways
and on-ramps, and the resulting speed ratings are converted
into electronic imaging with easy-to-understand traffic flow
information and photo-realistic maps with three dimensional
landmarks that show the big traffic picture.
Exclusive to KNBC in the Los Angeles market, the TrueView
Traffic technology can also be seen on television stations
across the country, including WCCO-TV in Minneapolis and
KRON-TV in San Francisco.
