Orlando, FL, October 07, 2003 - WSI Corp today announced
the addition of three important data streams for WSI InFlight,
its FAA certified cockpit weather datalink service. In a move
designed to meet to corporate aviator's needs, WSI is adding
Winds Aloft, Temperatures Aloft and Canadian weather information
to its WSI InFlight aviation weather broadcast service.
Winds and Temperatures Aloft information will be available
at 13 isobarometric levels ranging from 3,000 to 51,000 feet
MSL. WSI will update the wind and temperature data every hour
by running multiple wind forecast models and delivering the
data to the cockpit every 5 minutes.
To address growing demand in international markets, WSI will
also add three sets of Canadian weather information to the
WSI InFlight service. Canadian information will include weather
Doppler radar returns and METARs and TAFs.
WSI InFlight is designed to increase pilots' confidence in
their enroute decision-making and to improve operational efficiency.
"WSI InFlight's addition of Winds and Temperatures Aloft
along with a full set of Canadian weather information gives
professional aviators more robust in-flight awareness throughout
North America" said Arlo Gambell, Director of Aviation
Services. "Anticipated fuel savings that an operator
of a turbine aircraft can achieve over just few flights will
more than pay for the system and installation" continued
Gambell.
Concurrently, WSI has announced an update to its WSI InFlight
3.0 Windows software client that incorporates the new information
broadcasts for PC based displays. The software will also allow
WSI InFlight customers using Electronic Flight Bags to be
able to access reported and forecast conditions for airports
by entering airport identifiers into a purpose built user
interface. The software upgrade is free and can be downloaded
from the WSI Internet site.
