-- Lets pilots feel like they are at home base no matter where they may travel --
LAS VEGAS, NV, October 12, 2004 — WSI Corporation today
introduces WSI ProLink™ as a core component of its suite
of aviation weather briefing systems. An ‘enabling’ communication
and database technology, WSI ProLink saves time by allowing
pilots to create personalized pre-flight briefings. With an
active WSI ProLink account, pilots may store frequently flown
routes and display preferences, recalling them at any WSI Pilotbrief
Pro™ system nation-wide. Nearly five hundred WSI Pilotbrief
Pro systems are already installed in FBOs and Corporate Flight
Departments throughout the United States. WSI ProLink Accounts
may be created, free of charge, at any WSI Pilotbrief Pro kiosk
or by subscribing to WSI’s new WSI Pilotbrief Online™ service,
and are now automatically included as part of the WSI InFlight™ cockpit
weather data-link service.
In conjunction with the release of WSI ProLink, an upgraded
WSI Pilotbrief Online now includes the award-winning capabilities
of WSI’s Pilotbrief Pro system, launched last year
at NBAA. The new WSI Pilotbrief Online features a graphical ‘My
Briefing’ workspace, which combines weather, airspace
and navigation information into an easy-to-use interface.
This new route-centric briefing system lets pilots quickly
evaluate multiple routing options for any airport pair. A
friendly control panel interface allows pilots to customize
the information display and to navigate geographically with
ease. Leveraging the weather briefing interface found in
WSI Pilotbrief Pro with the capabilities of WSI ProLink,
pilots using WSI Pilotbrief Online will feel like they are
at home base no matter where in the world they may travel.
WSI also announces the ability for pilots to file flight
plans directly to the FAA from any WSI Pilotbrief Pro kiosk
or online with WSI Pilotbrief Online, a service which will
be available later this year.
“The time savings that pilots are going to realize
using a WSI ProLink enabled service will be amazing,” states
Arlo Gambell, WSI Director of Aviation Services. “Not
only will all of their route data be always at hand, but
there will also be a consistency of information that will
make preflight briefings much more concise.”
To further improve weather awareness, WSI has incorporated
StormCast® predictive graphics to the WSI Pilotbrief
Pro and WSI Pilotbrief Online services. StormCast includes
proprietary algorithms and graphics that indicate the likely
future location of severe convective weather in fifteen
minute increments out to an hour. In combination with the
route of flight and airspace overlays now available on
WSI Pilotbrief Pro and WSI Pilotbrief Online, StormCast
provides instantaneous verification of hazardous conditions
that could affect a flight.
WSI provides the world’s most innovative and trusted
briefing solutions for aviation professionals through every
phase flight. WSI’s pre-flight briefing solutions include
WSI Pilotbrief® which is consistently voted #1 by professional
