Andover, Mass. - October 26, 2005
- WSI Corporation, the leading provider of weather data and graphics services for over 50 percent of the nation’s broadcasters and major cable networks, has landed a small but important role in “The Weather Man,” starring Nicolas Cage, which hits theaters nationwide on October 28th.
WSI’s TrueView weather technology is featured in the film about a local television weatherman in Chicago who is offered an opportunity to audition for a job in national television in New York. WSI’s TrueView is the world’s most innovative weather storytelling product available to broadcasters. The TrueView logo is seen in the corner of the video screens when Dave Spritz (Cage) auditions for the weather broadcasting position in New York. Michael Caine and Hope Davis also star in the film.
Popular Chicago weatherman David Spritz has a shot at the big time when a national morning television show calls him for an audition. Professionally, Spritz is on the top of the world, but his personal life is in complete disarray. His painful divorce, his dad's illness and trouble with his kids have him poised on the knife's edge between stability and disaster. The harder he tries to control events, the more he finds life, like the weather, is completely unpredictable.
