WSI Initiates Polar Weather Service for Airlines
WSI supports airlines' expansion into Chinese and Indian markets
Andover, Mass, USA, 2nd May 2006 — WSI today announces the initiation of polar forecasts and reporting by the WSI Aviation Forecast Group (AFG). WSI professional aviation meteorologists now issue regular forecasts for enroute hazards and temperatures for the Arctic Circle. These forecasts are utilized by air carriers to make critical daily operational decisions for routes flown between North America and the Far East.
"Our Air Carrier customers are more interested than ever in Polar weather because of the anticipated traffic growth between the U.S., India and China," states Roy Strasser, WSI Vice President, Meteorology. "WSI is unmatched in its ability to collate polar weather information and to deliver aviation forecasts that address the unique operational challenges over the Arctic." WSI's forecasts include daily temperatures for emergency airports, aloft fuel freeze charts, turbulence, icing, and Solar Activity alerts.
