The USPLN is an advanced lightning detection network that has been providing real-time and archive lightning stroke detection data for the continental United States since its inception in 2004. With the launch of the North American Precision Lightning NetworkSM (NAPLNSM) and ongoing expansion through the Global Lightning NetworkSM (GLNSM), WSI brings the same high quality lightning information to customers with international interests.

The NAPLN builds upon the success of the USPLN by utilizing additional sensors in Canada, Mexico, Central America, the Caribbean islands, and northern South America.  While the USPLN provides coverage beyond the continental US borders, the new sensors in the NAPLN ensure the highest levels of accuracy and efficiency in these expanded areas. The considerable increase in available data in the NAPLN provides a broader geographic and market reach.
