WSI offers our lightning-sensitive customers the highest quality and accuracy real-time data and services from the United States Precision Lightning Network (USPLN). The USPLN is a partnership of WSI and TOA Systems, a preeminent manufacturer of integrated lightning detection and warning system. In addition to customers in media, aviation, energy and government, WSI serves a variety of markets through the USPLN Reseller partners, which consist of premier weather companies and systems integrators supplying a broad spectrum of innovative products and services. The USPLN is an advanced lightning detection network that has been providing real-time and archive lightning stroke detection data for the continental United States since its inception in 2004. As the needs of our customers have grown, so have WSI’s lightning capabilities. With the launch of the North American Precision Lightning NetworkSM (NAPLNSM) and ongoing expansion through the Global Lightning NetworkSM (GLNSM), WSI brings the same high quality lightning information to customers with international interests. The NAPLN builds upon the success of the USPLN by utilizing additional sensors in Canada, Mexico, Central America, the Caribbean islands, and northern South America. While the USPLN provides coverage beyond the continental US borders, the new sensors in the NAPLN ensure the highest levels of accuracy and efficiency in these expanded areas. The considerable increase in available data in the NAPLN provides a broader geographic and market reach. |
